Be careful -- this is **STRAIGHT** wire

I did not realize there are two kinds of wire -- straight and 'crossover'. Once I crossed the lines (via splicing), everything worked fine. And now I know that 'straight' doesn't have anything to do with whether or not the wire has kinks in it :-).
