A new network for Oklahoma schools poised to deliver broadband to the regionCreated: 4/27/2011 9:40:59 AMThe adoption of fiber-optic networks by Oklahoma school districts has the potential to change the quality of education for those falling under the coverage zone. This may be in response to the increasing demands placed on learning centers to adapt to modern technologies, and for many the procurement of high speed internet is of central importance.
According to Unite Private Networks , the telecommunications company has announced that it will help eight state schools connect to fiber-optic Wide Area Networks. The initiative will link the facilities to one another, and it hopes to enhance the educational processes of the students affected.
"Learning is more effective, through the use of technology, for the students of today’s generation," said Martin Mueller, UPN vice president of business development, " they have grown up with it, utilize it in their personal lives, and have come to expect it at school."
Oklahoma may been seen as a pioneer state for getting its educational districts online. According to the Stuttgart Daily Leader, schools in its area will also be installing fiber-optic cables that will connect each facility. This will be a more cost-effective option than increasing the bandwidth for each site, states the news source.
