Saudi Arabia's King Khaled University Hospital receives CAT 6A installationCreated: 7/20/2010 2:33:29 PMKing Khaled University Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia was recently fitted with advanced CAT 6A shielded twisted pair cabling to enhance its services to patients.
The hospitals natural environment can be problematic for normal cables, as electromagnetic interference from equipment, such as x-ray machines, can disrupt and distort data transferred through outdated lines.
By using shielded CAT 6A cables, the hospital ensured it could achieve fast data transmissions without worrying about both electromagentic and radio frequency interference.
Aamir Mohamed, an IT manager at KKUH, said the implementation of the new cables has allowed the facility to run a trouble-free high-performance network scalable for future applications.
The hospital currently holds 840 beds but there are developing plans for massive expansion. Primary and secondary care services are available for Riyadh patients at the facility, while all Saudi citizens have access to tertiary care on a referral basis.
Hospitals around the globe are using fiber-optic or high-speed CAT 6 cables to enhance data transmission and provide new healthcare options for patients. By updating their infrastructures, hospitals can conduct teleconferencing sessions with patients and consult with specialists in different locations with greater clarity and convenience.
