Aquantia surpasses 100-meter standard with new 120-meter CAT 6A cabling systemCreated: 7/27/2010 6:08:13 PMAquantia recently announced a breakthrough in its 40nm generation product platform, extending a CAT 6A cabling system to 120 meters in a data center environment.
The new product features the 10GBASE-T PHYs technology that has appeared on other Aquantia product lines but offers users greater coverage.
Companies that run their own data centers will benefit from the new technology, as finding CAT 6A cables that reach above the standard 100-meter mark can be difficult to find. IT leaders now have more flexibility in how they design and layout their data centers, allowing companies to use larger spaces and thus incorporate more servers into one area.
For Aquantia to extend the transmission distance of high performance Category 6A cabling to 120 meters is the ultimate evidence of the robustness and superiority of its 10GBASE-T architecture and its successful implementation in 40nm, said John Siemen, CTO at Siemon.
By using the long-reaching cables, which allow for fewer PCB layers and improved reliability, companies can reduce their costs.
Users of CAT 6A cables benefit from fast data transmissions and strong durability. Recently, engineers outfitted King Khaled University Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with new CAT 6A cables to improve care and treatments for patients.
