The company recently issued a notification to consumers, manufacturers and authorities stating that the product does not comply with the safety standards for the United States and Canada and is using the UL logo without proper authorization.
Underwriters Laboratories officials are unsure of how many units of the communications cable are currently available in stores and when they were created.

By using the UL logo on the cable, its developers knew it would make the item more appealing to consumers. The safety certification company has been in existence for more than a century, testing and evaluating more than 19,000 types of products and components for more than 66,000 manufacturers each year.
