HDMI cables may tap into tablet's popularityCreated: 4/28/2011 7:08:10 AMHDMI cables and ports are becoming a standard feature for the newest wave of consumer electronics. The most popular digital commodity on the market right now is tablet computers, many of which are now incorporating HDMI video-out functions to allow the device to display its screens on a larger high definition television.
According to the New York Times, Blackberry recently entered the tablet market with a new device. One of the key features of the product is its compatibility with a special HDMI cable. This will allow the tablet to hook up to an HD display and perform critical functions, such as slide shows, on a much larger scale than what is offered by the device's screen.
Experts say that because HDMI input is becoming a standard feature on many HD televisions and computer screens, mobile technologies that thrive on compatibility with other devices will likely feature a way to link to larger displays through the cables.
Blackberry's tablet may be new, but it is not the only HDMI compatible mobile computing device. According to Touch Arcade, Apple has recently developed an HDMI cable and converter for its popular iPad and iPhone devices.
