HyperMac computer cable changing name after patent suit Created: 11/4/2010 4:56:43 PMFollowing a lawsuit from Apple, a
computer cable company is changing the name of its HyperMac external battery to HyperJuice. Additionally, the company has also agreed to stop selling aftermarket Apple MagSafe power cables to connect Apple laptops to the batteries.
Apple had sued the company for patent infringement because of two key patents it was using on its MagSafe connector.
”As part of our ongoing comprehensive licensing negotiations with Apple regarding a wide array of technologies and issues, we have decided to cease the sale of the MacBook charging cables and car charger on Nov. 2, 2010,” said the company.
In addition, as part of the agreement with Apple, the company will change the name of its HyperMac battery to HyperJuice.
"While we will continue to sell the same batteries together with the rest of our product line after November 2nd, they will not be able to charge MacBooks without the cables," the company said
Sanho had earlier been forced to cease sales of its HyperMac products after Apple initially filed the lawsuit.
Apple is very protective of its patents. Recently, it went to trial with Nokia over patent infringement.
