Fiber Optic Patch Cables & Accessories

The ComputerCableStore offers a variety of leading fiber optic patch cables and cords. Singlemode fiber cable is primarily used for applications involving extensive distances and only handles one wavelength (or mode) of light. Multimode fiber, however, is the cable of choice for most common fiber systems as it can handle multiple wavelengths of light along the same fiber core. The common core sizes of multimode fiber are 62.5 micron and 50 micron, the latter being capable of longer link lengths as well as up to three times the bandwidth of 62.5 micron fiber optic cable. We carry singlemode and multimode optical fiber patch cables with a variety of connector types such as LC, SC, ST, or MT-RJ. Duplex fiber cables consist of two fiber cores and can be either multimode or singlemode. This dual core system allows for the bi-directional transfer of data, as opposed to simplex fiber cables, which only propagate data in one direction. Simplex fiber is also available in either the multimode or singlemode variety. Mode conditioning fiber patch cables are used specifically in Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-LX applications where the object is deploying new high-speed 1000BASE-LX routers and switches within existing multimode system backbones. In our "How-To" section you will find step-by-step instructions on how to terminate fiber optic cable.

FiberOpticx Xpress Fiber Connector - LC Single-mode - 100 Pack
FiberOpticx Xpress Fiber Connector - LC Single-mode - 100 Pack

FiberOpticx Xpress Fiber Connector - LC Single-mode - 100 Pack from ComputerCableStore.com. SMP's Xpress Fiber Connectors are the new generation in field installable fiber terminations. These connectors eliminate the need for messy epoxies and expensive tools by offering a pre-polished solution that can be installed in minutes. Xpress Connectors have a prestubbed factory polished ferrule that joins to the fiber using a precise mechanical alignment and a special low loss index matching gel. Each Connector comes with a specially designed clip that holds the clamping devices open for the fiber to be inserted. Once the fiber is inserted, squeeze the clip to release the blades, remove clip and discard.

3M Singlemode Simplex Fiber Optic Patch Cable (9/125) - LC to LC
3M Singlemode Simplex Fiber Optic Patch Cable (9/125) - LC to LC

ComputerCableStore.com's top quality, high-speed 3M Singlemode Simplex Fiber Optic Patch Cable (9/125) - LC to LC cables will unleash the power of your telecommunications system. With ceramic ferrules and a 9/125 Micron core, this cable is suitable for high speed, high bandwidth, far-reaching telecommunications such that you would find in long-distance telephony and cable television applications.  These fibers operate at the 1310 nm or 1550 nm transmission windows.
A patch cable or patch cord (sometimes patchcable or patchcord) is an electrical or optical cable, used to connect ("patch-in") one electronic or optical device to another for signal routing. Devices of different types (ie: a switch connected to a computer, or switch to router) are connected with patch cords. Patch cords are usually produced in many different colours so as to be easily distinguishable, and are relatively short, perhaps no longer than two metres. Types of patch cords include microphone cables, headphone extension cables, XLR connector, RCA connector and 1/4" TRS connector cables (as well as modular ethernet cables), and thicker, hose-like cords (snake cable) used to carry video or amplified signals. However, patch cords typically only refer to those short ones used with patch panels.
A micrometre or micron (American spelling: micrometer; symbol µm) is one millionth of a metre, or equivalently one thousandth of a millimetre. It is also commonly known as a micron. It can be written in scientific notation as 1×10-6 m, meaning 1/1 000 000 m.
