DVI Mate Adapter with Power - DVI Female to Female from ComputerCableStore™. Provides a simple, economical adaption from a DVI male connector to a DVI female connector, enabling flat panel digital display extension (when the flat panel display has an attached male-DVI terminated connector cable). With the DVImate, any DVI cable (with male to male connectors) can be converted to a female connector in order to be extended. * DVImate with power is used when connecting a DVIX cable to an ADC to DVI Adapter and then the DVI to ADC Conversion Box. The DVImate supplies +5v to pin 14 of the DVI connector. DVI, or Digital Video Interface Technology came about in 1999 as a result of the formation of the Digital Display Working Group (DDWG) a year prior. Their original mission was to create a standard digital video interface for communication between a Personal Computer and a VGA monitor. Recently, however, the consumer electronics industry began implementing DVD players, set-top boxes, televisions, and LCD/plasma monitors with DVI technology.
