This Networxâ„¢ CAT6A Patch Cable is ideal for use in a performance demanding high speed 10 Gigabit Ethernet network (10GbE) while remaining fully backward compatible with your existing 10/100/1000 Ethernet network. A quality Cat 6A booted patch cable. High speed Category 6a (Augmented Category 6) patch cables can also be used as an assurance that your existing Fast Ethernet network is performing at it best! This Networxâ„¢ CAT6 Patch Cable is carefully constructed using a high quality 500 MHz Cat 6A bulk cable, which consists of 4 shielded twisted pairs, overall mylar shield, 24 AWG stranded conductors, spline and a durable rich colored PVC jacket. These 10GbE rated Cat 6A patch cables easily handle bandwidth intensive applications plus they are UL certified patch cables that meet all the TIA/EIA standards. Terminated with short body shielded RJ45 plugs that contain 8 gold plated contacts with 50 microinch of gold plating each keep near-end Crosstalk (NEXT) interference levels to a minimum. The molded, snag less boot design prevents unwanted cable snags during installation/maintenance processes plus provides extra strain-relief making the cable more durable. The latest standard from the TIA for enhanced performance standards for twisted pair cable systems was defined in February 2008 in ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B.2-10. Category 6a (or Augmented Category 6) operates at frequencies up to 550 MHz—twice that of Cat 6. It can support 10 Gbit/s applications (especially 10GBaseT) up to a maximum distance of 100 meters. The 8 Position 8 Contact (8P8C) (often called RJ45) plugs and sockets are most regularly used as an ethernet connector. 8P8C connectors are typically used to terminate twisted pair cable. A patch cable or patch cord (sometimes patchcable or patchcord) is an electrical or optical cable, used to connect ("patch-in") one electronic or optical device to another for signal routing. Devices of different types (ie: a switch connected to a computer, or switch to router) are connected with patch cords. Patch cords are usually produced in many different colours so as to be easily distinguishable, and are relatively short, perhaps no longer than two metres. Types of patch cords include microphone cables, headphone extension cables, XLR connector, RCA connector and 1/4" TRS connector cables (as well as modular ethernet cables), and thicker, hose-like cords (snake cable) used to carry video or amplified signals. However, patch cords typically only refer to those short ones used with patch panels.
