Used as a connection point or aggregation point in the wiring closets of homes and businesses, a Patch Panel provides the user with the option to reconfigure where the lines are routed to quickly. This 24 port rack mount device is Category 6 compliant and perfect for small companies or homes. A punch down tool is required to terminate the cables coming from the wall to the back of this device. A patch panel or patch bay, not to be confused with the jackfield, is a panel, typically rackmounted, that houses cable connections. One typically shorter patch cable will plug into the front side, whereas the back holds the connection of a much longer and more permanent cable. The assembly of hardware is arranged so that a number of circuits, usually of the same or similar type, appear on jacks for monitoring, interconnecting, and testing circuits in a convenient, flexible manner.
