24 Port Patch Panel 24 Karat Quality Patch Panel allowing for the industry standard wiring of multiple networking connections into a single location inside a building. Using this patch panel to consolidate all the network connections in your house or office near your concentrator. It does not matter if it is an Ethernet hub, an Ethernet switch, or an Ethernet/broadband router. This will give you a single location for troubleshooting network problems and a single place to make changes to you network configuration. There are inherent problems with terminating the end of the cable that runs through you walls. Two are 1) if the connector goes bad and you do not have enough cable to terminate it again, you must pull another wire, 2) expansion and contraction from the movement of the wire will loosen the crimp of the connector on to the cable, Using a patch panel eliminates these and other problems by: 1) having a mounted place that the wires terminate to. 2) using an insulation displacement connection (IDC) instead of a crimp connection. 3) uses a patch cable that is easer to remove and replace if you have to move the concentration equipment.
A patch panel or patch bay, not to be confused with the jackfield, is a panel, typically rackmounted, that houses cable connections. One typically shorter patch cable will plug into the front side, whereas the back holds the connection of a much longer and more permanent cable. The assembly of hardware is arranged so that a number of circuits, usually of the same or similar type, appear on jacks for monitoring, interconnecting, and testing circuits in a convenient, flexible manner.
